HIM Director

Job Summary
The Director of Health Information Management is responsible for strategic planning, supervision, and coordination of daily operations in the Health Information Management Department in order to provide timely, quality service in accordance with standards established by the medical staff, Joint Commission, state, federal and regulatory agencies. S/he functions as the hospital's Privacy Officer, develops policies and procedures, maintains computer applications, and oversees coding activities.
Qualifications
AHIMA RHIA or RHIT certification or commitment to enroll in a program within 180 days of hire, to be completed within 5 years
Certified Credentialed Coder or Certified Privacy Specialist preferred
Supervisory/ management experience in Health Information Management
Knowledge of ICD-9-CM; ICD-10 and CPT 4 coding
Knowledge of JCAHO standards and CMS regulations
Knowledge of HIPAA, New Mexico state regulations, and federal regulations with regard to medical records confidentiality and privacy law and practices
Knowledge of DRG and APC regulations/ requirements
Computer proficiency
Knowledge of Meditech software and 3M Reimbursement software systems preferred

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
